Traditional skills, properly done

Hedgelaying, Scything and Woodland Work in Mid Wales

TaylorLaid offers traditional hedgelaying, scything, coppicing and woodland management around Welshpool and Mid Wales.

Hedgelaying

Hedges are laid in the Welsh Border and Montgomery styles, the two regional styles of this part of the borders. A laid hedge is a living, stock-proof boundary that thickens from the base and lasts for decades, giving far better shelter and habitat than a flailed one.

Scything, Coppicing and Woodland

Meadows, orchards, banks and awkward corners are mown by scythe: quiet, fuel-free and kind to wildlife. In the woods, the work covers bringing neglected coppice back into rotation, thinning, and the general care of small woodlands.

Working with the Seasons

Hedgelaying and coppicing are winter work, done outside the bird-nesting season. Scything runs through the growing season.

If you have a hedge, a meadow or a piece of woodland that needs attention, get in touch to talk it through.
